Capture the journey in a 20 second time-lapse video and to Gishwhes. Unlock the 2.0KM, 5.0KM and 10.KM Poke Eggs and show us what you’ve hatched. He’d like that, I’m sure” (2016), “Time-lapse this submission to 20 seconds or less. You can all ask him for his mailing address on twitter. Help Shatner realize the egregious mistake he made by skipping the 2016 hunt by sending him 3 photo postcards featuring highlights of this year’s Hunt experience with ‘Having a wonderful time! Gish you were here, Bill!’ a photo of the 3 cards stamped and addressed to Bill. For example, the anchor or host or reporter could say, ‘gishwhes saved my marriage,’ or ‘gishwhes taught me to read,’ or ‘gishwhes helped me get over my fear of mice,’or ‘gishwhes gave me an incurable rash.’ They must also mention your team’s name in the broadcast” (2016) while others require a specific celebrity such as “William Shatner opted out of the Hunt this year due to ‘scheduling conflicts’ (which we all know is code for “trouble in bromance paradise”). Some are generic such as “get a president, a king, a prime minister or other official head of state to wear a real kale crown” (2015) and “Get a news anchor or on-air reporter (and this has to be an actual, on-air broadcast, not a staging of a broadcast), to explain, very succinctly, the profound impact that gishwhes has had on his or her life. There are tasks that sometimes require celebrities or political figures to help out teams. Longest Human Chain to Pass Through a Hula Hoop (2014) – 572 participants. Most People in a Decorated Hat Competition (2014).Largest Gathering of People Dressed as French Maids (2014) – 695 participants.Largest Chain of Safety Pins (2013) – 3,583 feet/1,802 meters long.Largest Online Photo Album of Hugs (2013) – 108,121 hugs. Most Pledges for a Campaign/to Complete a Random Act of Kindness (2012) – 93,376 pledges.Largest Media Scavenger Hunt (2012) – 14,580 participants.Over the years, GISHWHES participants have broken many Guinness Book of World Records including: And yet there’s rarely ever been an item that was not accomplished by at least one team. And this has gone on for 8 years now with a variety of items, some you would never imagine would be possible to do. It had a ton of crazy items for participants to do, creative items (I remember doing a potato stone landmark – not Stonehenge – for a friend of mine since I couldn’t participate), and heartfelt items. The following year began the first annual GISHWHES. (What celebrity actually sends their fans something? Apparently Misha does.) He really did send people pieces of his rhinoceros – puzzle pieces with fun activities for them to do and send pictures back. And missed out on my chance to actually get a piece of a rhinoceros from Misha Collins himself. Personally, I thought it was a great joke. In 2010 Misha Collins, founder of GISHWHES and Random Acts, put out to Supernatural fans that if they would send him a self-addressed envelope, he would send them a piece of the rhinoceros he earned for helping Supernatural win in the People’s Choice Awards – given to him by Warner Bros publicist Holly Ollis. But hurry!! July 15th is the final day to register! The Beginning of GISHWHES Can’t afford the registration fee? Sign up for a Gisholarship! You’re not guaranteed to get one, as it’s done by those who give extra for others to participate, but at least you have a chance. It does cost money to sign up for GISHWHES, with proceeds going towards the prizes and charities, and there are multiple tiers of registration. This list does not come out until the scavenger hunt officially begins, so no prep work beforehand. Teams of 15 people from all over the world have about 200 items they can attempt to accomplish which always include at least one Stormtrooper, charity items, artwork, Twitter, clothes made out of non-fabric items, the military/veterans, the elderly (sometimes even including his mother’s nursing home), feminine hygiene item sculptures, and more. So if you see some weird people out during that week, they’re probably just Gishers. This year GISHWHES – the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen – takes place from July 27th until August 3rd. GISHWHES, that crazy international scavenger hunt that leaves normal people wondering what the heck is going on as people around them walk in pineapple shoes, dress up in flowers, have pool parties in dumpsters, and so much more.
